HUMG was established in
1966 from the Mining and Geology faculty of Hanoi University of
Technologies. During 40 years of history, more than 30000 undergraduate and
post-graduate students have graduated from the university in 31 different
programmes such as mining, geology, surveying and mapping, oil and gas,
electro-mechanical engineering, information technology and computer
sciences, economics and business administration. Graduates from HUMG are
highly appreciated for the capability and professional skills in the key
sectors of Vietnamese economy such as oil and gas, coal mining,
construction, etc.
The main campus of the
HUMG is in Dong Ngac, Tu Liem, Hanoi, Vietnam. The university also has two
other campuses in Quang ninh, the heart of Vietnam coal mining industry and
in Vung Tau, the oil city in the South of Vietnam.
HUMG is growing and
developing university. The number of students increased to around 22000 in
recent years. Dozens of new majors have been added to the university
education programs such as geo-environment, software engineering, applied
information technology in surveying, economics, mining and geology,
accounting, business administration, etc. Hanoi campus will be extended and
designed to comply with the facilities of an advanced and modernized
university.
Total number of academic
staff is 527 with 16 full-professors, 55 associate professors, and 177
senior lecturers. With highly professional and potential academic staff,
HUMG has made a reputation in research activities and applied knowledge
transferring in Earth Sciences related projects in Vietnam. Academic staff
in HUMG works in 11 different academic faculties.
